We are asked daily "How much will my design ideas cost?" The simple answer is we don't know. A custom log home or cottage has hundreds of variables that reflect the customer's taste and available budget. We never assume anything regarding your available resources. As a starting point however the following is always true:

Minimum cost for modest Log Home completely finished, NOT including site development.
$150/sqft -
Minimum cost for modest completely finished Cottage, NOT including site development.
$100/sqft -
Average cost for a modest Maine Rustic Cottage shell erected at your site.
$225/sqft -
A starting point for a a completely finished timber frame construction, NOT including site development.
Bear in mind that these figures are only approximations. Complexity, location, time of year, market lumber prices ALL influence actual cost to build. Conversely, Real Estate values of "similar" homes have nothing to do with the cost to build.

- 40 year metal roof.
